Whopper Virgins Advertising Campaign Results

WELL, I WAS CURIOUS TO SEE IF BURGER KING WEBSITE, Whopper Virgins, would play the documentary when the countdown ended. For me it did not, but my choice of browser (Safari) was the problem.

It was Whopper 70%, Big Mac 20%, No Preference 10%, as I saw it. Burger King brought a broiler with them. Did a McDonald’s representative handle the Big Macs? Not that it really matters….

I think this was rather nicely done, despite any controversy. Modern day “soft” imperialism in action?

The ad has received a ton of press, mostly negative for its exploitation of “undeveloped” cultures..

Brian Morrissey, writing on Adfreak.com, likens the campaign to colonialism and declares it “embarrassing and emblematic of how ignorant Americans still seem to the rest of the world.”
